Today two special people are celebrating 28 years of marriage.

I’m thankful for marriage. Thankful God created humans to go through life in pairs. As my mom likes to say, it is an institution that more often makes you holy, than happy. What an ingenious plan: fulfilling our life purpose of becoming more like Christ through an institution that includes deep companionship and the fulfilment of peoples need for love and affection.

I admit – no experience from THIS girl. Still, I’m thankful.

Specifically, I’m thankful God brought my parents together. Two different human beings, but uniquely made to establish a loving home centered on Christ.

Thank you for daily demonstrating your love for each other.

Thank you for showing me that ‘iron sharpens iron.’

Thank you for willingly putting aside your needs to serve each other.

Thank you for humbly showing imperfections. This speaks volumes about reliance on God’s transforming grace.

Thank you for demonstrating a Godly marriage to your children. So: there is my shout-out to an amazing set of parents.

I love you.
