Sitting in church yesterday I had this overwhelming vision of the wrath of God. As Pastor Ian talked about the justice of God, and His righteous inability to tolerate my sin, it was if I were suddenly facing a wall of fire.

I love the concept of grace… but I don’t like the idea of wrath.

Yet at the same moment the fire rose up before me, I felt this tremendous peace as a barrier of grace surround me.  We are protected by the very one whose perfection demanded our death.  What an amazing forgiveness.

It is an appeasement of the wrath of God by the love of God through the gift of God. – John Stott
